Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey: An Affordable Hotel Close to Hershey Park

Location: Hershey, Pennsylvania

If you are planning a family trip to Hersheypark, Pennsylvania, one of the first decisions you will need to make is where to stay. Finding a comfortable hotel close to Hershey Park makes your visit much more convenient, but staying at one of Hershey’s premier resorts can get expensive quickly.

The Hotel Hershey and Hershey Lodge are the classic places to stay when visiting Hersheypark. Both offer the full Hershey experience and some great perks, but during our visit, rooms were running around $600 to $800 per night.

That simply wasn’t in our budget.

Since most of our time would be spent exploring Hersheypark and Hershey’s Chocolate World, we didn’t need a luxury resort. We simply wanted an affordable hotel close to Hershey Park with enough space for our family of five.

I also really wanted to use Hilton Honors points if possible, so we started looking at Hilton properties in the area. We ended up booking the Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey Near The Park, and it turned out to be a great choice for our family.

Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey Near The Park

One important thing to know when booking is that there are two Hampton Inn & Suites hotels in Hershey, and the names are confusingly similar.

We stayed at Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey Near The Park, located at 195 Hershey Road in Hummelstown.

There is also a Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey located on East Chocolate Avenue. Make sure you double-check the name and address before booking. Both hotels are near the park but the other location did not have the studio suite we ended up booking.

The “Near The Park” location is incredibly convenient for a Hershey vacation. Both Hersheypark and Hershey’s Chocolate World are just one mile from the hotel, and it took us less than five minutes to drive to the park.

The location was probably my favorite thing about the hotel. After spending an entire day walking around Hersheypark, the last thing we wanted was a long drive back to our room.

Our Two Queen Studio Suite

As a family of five, finding hotel rooms that give everyone enough space can be challenging. We booked a two queen studio suite, which gave us significantly more room than a standard hotel room.

What we really loved was having two separate sleeping areas with the bathroom positioned in the middle. It created a little separation within the room, which makes such a difference when you are traveling with kids.

After a long day at the park, everyone could spread out instead of feeling like all five of us were crammed into one small sleeping area.

For larger families searching for a hotel close to Hershey Park, I would definitely look at the suite options rather than booking a standard room.

Free Breakfast Before Hersheypark

Another big advantage of staying at Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey is the complimentary hot breakfast.

Breakfast is included with your stay, which is both convenient and a nice way to save money on a family vacation. Breakfast was a hot buffet with make your own waffles that my kids loved and coffee was also complimentary.

With three kids, I love being able to get everyone fed at the hotel before heading out for the day. There is no need to find a restaurant, wait for a table, or add another meal to the vacation budget.

If you are trying to get to Hersheypark early, having breakfast right downstairs also makes the morning much easier.

Indoor Pool

Of course, the kids were excited that the hotel had an indoor pool. It was a very simple pool, but it got the job done.

Even after spending the day at an amusement park, somehow kids still have the energy to swim. The indoor pool is nice because you don’t have to worry about the weather, and it gives families something to do during downtime at the hotel. The property also has a fitness center.

Free Parking

Parking at Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey Near The Park is complimentary, which is another nice perk when comparing the total cost of hotels.

You will need your car to get to Hersheypark, however. The hotel does not offer a Hersheypark shuttle, so plan on driving between the hotel and the park.

Fortunately, because the hotel is only about a mile from Hersheypark, the drive is extremely quick.

Pro tip: be sure to pay for parking in advance to save money! It’s more expensive to pay at the gate.

Is Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey Near The Park Worth It?

For us, absolutely.

This isn’t a destination resort where you are going to spend your vacation hanging around the hotel. We wanted a clean, comfortable hotel close to Hershey Park where our family could spread out, eat breakfast in the morning, swim in the evening, and get to Hersheypark within a few minutes.

Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey Near The Park checked all of those boxes.

The suite setup worked especially well for our family of five, and being able to use Hilton Honors points made the stay even more affordable. Add in free breakfast and free parking, and we were able to save quite a bit compared with staying at one of Hershey’s resort properties.

If staying at The Hotel Hershey or Hershey Lodge isn’t in your budget, don’t feel like you need to sacrifice location. There are plenty of hotels around Hershey, and this one puts you incredibly close to the main attractions without the resort price tag.

For families looking for an affordable hotel close to Hershey Park, Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey Near The Park is definitely one I would consider again.
