Our family trip to North Conway has become an annual tradition. We have stayed at so many different hotels but always come back to The Red Jacket. I think it is the most family friendly resort in the area. From Kahuna Laguna to the arcade to the list of activities offered throughout the day, there is always something to do for kids of all ages. Although our pup was not with us, there are dog-friendly accommodations available.
The Red Jacket Mountain View Resort
There are many different types of rooms to suit the needs of each family. We always book an alcove room and it is perfect for us. It is roomy for our family of five and the small adjoining room is perfect for our baby who is asleep by 6:00 PM. We just close her off with a sound machine while the older kids watch movies in the main room. They also offer a loft room with a ladder that goes up to a separate sleeping area with two beds and a television. When the kids are a bit older, they will love that. Each room has a deck or patio and if you are at the front of the hotel, you will have great mountain views.
One year, we rented one of the two bedroom townhomes with another family and that was great. We had our own kitchen and living room with a pull out couch. The bedrooms were upstairs and there was a bathroom on each floor. Located at the back of the property, the townhouses are in a quiet wooded location, but just a short walk to the main hotel.
There is an outdoor pool, a playground and a fire pit to roast marshmallows. They have movie night on the lawn and various arts and crafts projects.
Kahuna Laguna Water Park
The water park at the Red Jacket is the main draw. It is SO much fun. We visit the water park every day we are there and they never get bored with it. It’s also great to have as a rainy day backup… and we have had at least one rain day every year. After a long day at Storyland, we will be beat but the kids get a second wind and always want to go back to the water park. There is a huge wave pool, four large water slides, a splash area for kids that includes a 175-gallon tipping bucket, a jumbo hot tub and a toddler area for littles. There are several lifeguards patrolling each area and life jackets provided so you can feel at ease.
We usually do the Splash and Save package which includes water park passes and free breakfast each day. You have to read through the many packages offered to see what fits your needs. The breakfast is buffet style and it is really good. I have picky eaters and they love it. There is a made to order omelette bar and then a huge selection of food to choose from including fresh fruit, pastries, scrambled eggs, pancakes, French toast, eggs benedict, and even a waffle bar.
If the Red Jacket is too pricey, check out their sister resort, The Fox Ridge Resort which is just down the street. We stayed there once because there was a Groupon deal that was too good to pass up. They shuttle you right over to the water park and although it may sound like a pain, it was one of my kids favorite parts. Fox Ridge has free mini golf and breakfast is included.
There is so much to do in North Conway for kids of every age, I wrote an entire post about it you can read here. The central location of the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort makes it a perfect base camp for your White Mountain activities.
