Woodloch Resort Review: The Ultimate Family Getaway in the Poconos
Iโve heard it again and againโWoodloch Resort is touted as the best family resort in the country. With a reputation like that, I had to see for myself. So, we packed up the car and made the scenic four-hour drive from Central Massachusetts to the Pocono Mountains.

Note: while our stay was complimentary, my opinions remain unbiased and reflect my genuine experience. Whether you’re planning a getaway or looking for a family-friendly retreat, here’s what you can expect from Woodloch. Let’s dive into the details!
From the moment we arrived at Woodloch Resort, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. Our accommodations were in The Pines, a fantastic location just a short walk from the pool complex.
I was immediately struck by how spacious and well-equipped our room was. It had everything a family needs for a comfortable stay: a full kitchen with dining area, a cozy living room with a pull-out couch, a large bathroom with double sinks and a tub, and a bedroom with two queen beds. There was even a large closet space with a washer and dryerโperfect for storing luggage and keeping things organized.

Getting Around Woodloch Resort
One of my favorite things about Woodloch Resort is the complimentary shuttle system. A continuous loop means you never wait more than 10โ15 minutes to get anywhere on property. Itโs one of the most reliable resort shuttles weโve experienced, and I loved being able to relax and not worry about driving once we arrived.
All-Inclusive Dining Experience
We arrived just in time for dinner in the main dining room. Because we were on a meal plan, all three daily meals were included, and the food was consistently excellent. On our first night, we were escorted to our assigned tableโwhich remained ours for the entirety of our stay. That little detail made everything so much easier. No waiting to be seated. No confusion. Just walk in and sit down.
Each meal started with salad and an appetizer, followed by three main course options with sides for the table. Thereโs also a dedicated kidsโ menu, though kids are welcome to order off the main menu. And the best part? Dessert. My daughter and I are still dreaming about the decadent mud pie. One night, she couldn’t decide which dessert to order so our waiter brought her one of each to try.
While alcohol isnโt included in the meal plan, a bartender is available to bring craft cocktails or wine right to your table. The kids loved ordering from their special drink menu, which featured fun names and surprisesโlike a Rubikโs cube with the Brain Teaser or a glowing necklace with the Electric Lemonade.

Nightly Entertainment for the Whole Family
After dinner, we headed to the nightclub for an illusionist show. It was a high-energy, interactive performance that completely wowed us. The biggest surprise? My typically shy daughter raised her hand and was chosen to go on stage and help with a magic trick. Itโs a memory weโll always treasure.
Action-Packed Days, Rain or Shine
Each morning at Woodloch Resort, we stopped by the front desk to pick up the daily activity sheet. With more than 30 scheduled activities every day, thereโs truly something for everyone, regardless of age or ability.
It was raining on our first day, so we started at the arcade. One thing I appreciated was how safe the resort felt. My kids loved the independence of being able to run down to the arcade while I finished my coffee. Younger children wear color-coded wristbands so staff can easily tell their age group and keep an extra eye out.
Next, we explored a massive indoor space that included a multi-level playground called the Forest Indoor Playground, basketball courts, and even more arcade games. Lizzie competed in โMinute to Win Itโ and won a gold medal! Then we all jumped into the bumper carsโbecause at Woodloch Resort, adults are encouraged to be kids again, too.

Pools and Water Fun
When the rain cleared, we made our way to the pool complex. Thereโs something for every age: an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a splash zone for toddlers, a water park with a slide, a family hot tub, and even an adults-only hot tub.
My son Harry ordered a non-alcoholic daiquiri from the poolside bar while we soaked in the hot tub under the open sky.
Unique Extras: Escape Room, Shooting Range & More
One of the highlights of our stay was the Willy Wonka-themed escape room. This was an extra charge, but totally worth it. We had to work through several cleverly themed rooms and solve puzzles within an hourโand escaped with just seven seconds to spare!
We also checked out the shooting range. Harry was hesitant at first but ended up loving itโit was one of his favorite activities of the entire trip.
My advice? Encourage your kids to try everything. Some of the experiences they were most reluctant about trying became their favorites.

Broadway-Caliber Entertainment
Saturday night brought the โGrand Slam of Entertainment,โ a live show featuring performances inspired by the Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and Tonys. The highlight? A Broadway-worthy rendition of Hamilton that had our whole family cheering.

Final Day Fun: Viper Go-Karts & More
Before we left, we squeezed in one last thrill with the Viper Go-Karts. We raced around the track like real-life Mario Kart characters, and younger kids even had a dedicated mini-track to enjoy.

Why Woodloch Resort is Perfect for Families
Leaving Woodloch Resort was tough. My kids are already begging to come backโwith friends next time, and for a longer amount of time.
This would be an ideal destination for a multi-family vacation or a multi-generation reunion. One room has Bingo while the other has a Bluey party. Active people can compete in the “Olympics” or those looking to relax can cozy into the spa. The activities are endless.

The variety of programming, the safe and friendly environment, and the attention to every detail make Woodloch Resort an unforgettable family destination. We stayed two nights and barely scratched the surface of all there is to do.
If you’re looking for a family vacation that combines fun, food, and fantastic memories, Woodloch Resort more than lives up to the hype. I wouldnโt be surprised if this becomes an annual tradition for our family.
