Let’s face it… traveling with kids can be fun and exciting and stressful and overwhelming all at the same time. But in the end, I have never regretted a trip. Children need to travel to learn and understand the world around them. I am the most present with my children when we are traveling, because there is no pile of laundry or dishes to distract me.
My kids love getting involved with the planning, looking at maps and even packing. They keep little “treasures” on their bookshelf which help them reminisce… “remember when we found this shell on the beach in Maine?”
We even laugh at the bad times. I have a picture of a pretty lighthouse we hiked to along the coast. My son couldn’t wait to get there to climb to the top. When we reached it, it was closed. He literally lay down and cried on the grass until I carried him home. Now he looks at the picture and says “remember when I had a huge tantrum there?” It always makes us laugh… although I was not laughing at the time.
The mission of this website is to motivate and inspire parents to get out there with their kids. Don’t wait until they are older for fear that they won’t remember it.
So pack your bags. Start small and plan a little road trip. If your partner won’t join you, go alone! You can do this! After all, you could miss beautiful moments that instantly melt your heart like this-
