Santas Village is located in Jefferson, New Hampshire. From the moment you step foot in the park, you will feel like you have been transported to the North Pole minus the cold weather. It is impossible to be in a bad mood when Christmas music and the smell of cookies fills the air. The grounds are immaculate and the staff is friendly. There is so much to do at Santas Village, I will tell you the 10 top experiences you shouldn’t miss.
Top 10 experiences at Santas Village in New Hampshire
1. Attend Elf University
Right when you enter the gate, head in to the Elf University to get your “elfabet” stamp cards. Throughout the park, kids can look for 26 different elves each holding a letter stamp. They slide their card in and pull down the lever. It is like a scavenger hunt and really fun for the kids. On your way out, kids can show their cards for a diploma and special prize. They do not have to find every letter, but my kids were determined to find every last elf in the park.
2. Visit with Santa
One of the most fun things to do is visit Santa Claus in his home! Kids can have their picture taken with Santa and let him know what they are hoping for under the tree that year. I like that besides the professional photo you have an opportunity to purchase, they also let you take a photo on your own camera or phone.
3. Feed Santa’s Reindeer
Santa’s reindeer are always hungry for visitors! At the Reindeer Rendezvous, you can purchase a cup of carrots for $2 and watch Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blizten gobble them up.
4. Ride the Skyway Sleigh
This is my personal favorite ride. Hop into Santa’s sleigh and ride the monorail. The grounds of the park are so pretty with all of the pine trees and it is just so fun to see everything from above. At the end of the ride, you will have your picture taken and an opportunity to purchase one. We always get a Christmas ornament with our photo and the kids love putting it on the tree each year. It brings back all of those happy memories.
5. Decorate gingerbread cookies
At the Sugar n’ Spice Bake Shop, kids can pick out a gingerbread man or woman. Then head to the far table where there are different color icings that the kids can use to decorate their cookies before indulging.
6. Ride the Yule Log Flume
After a journey through the Yule forest, you will head up a logging ramp before splashing back down. Be prepared to get wet on this ride. Kids must be at least 48 inches tall to ride this one.
7. Have a good luck ring made
At the Reindeer Shoe Blacksmith Shop, a blacksmith will make a ring to fit your child. The rings are free of charge and act as a symbol of good luck. My kids love to collect them.
8. Drive an antique car
I mean, what is more fun for a kid than driving their own car around? They get to splash through a pool and go through a bubble car wash.
9. Climb aboard Santa’s Express Train
This is a slow scenic train ride that goes around the park. The train station is just up to the left when you enter the park. It’s a great way to get your bearings of where everything is. My kids love going through the covered bridges.
10. The Great Humbug Adventure
Scrooge’s home has just been renovated! Kids can sit in a four person ride through his house to shoot humbugs with a “giggle gadget” which is basically a laser gun. They get points for how many humbugs they hit. The ride can look a bit spooky like a haunted house, but it really isn’t scary at all. My 4 year old loved it and she scares easily.
If you visit the park on a hot day, be sure to pack a bathing suit and make a splash at Santa’s Water park. From late May to early October, kids can make a splash at Ho Ho H2O. The are temperature has to reach at least 65 degrees for this part to open because the water is not heated. The water park is included in the price of admission to Santa’s Village. While we have friends who go to Santa’s Village just for this water park, we have never made it over. There is just so much to do in the main park we spend all of our time there or we visit the park in the fall and it is too cold to enjoy.
