You are all booked for Disney and the kids are bursting with excitement. Your little girl wants to look like her favorite princess, but the dress you got is leaving a trail of glitter everywhere she goes. The tulle in her tutu is so itchy she cries to take it off immediately. Fifty dollars down the drain and now your baby is running around Disney in a diaper.
Is it possible to have your girlie look cute AND be comfortable? The answer is YES! I hunted down the softest, dreamiest dresses on the market and… drum roll… some of these are even machine washable (you’re welcome, Mama)!
The best princess costumes for GIRLS:
1. Little Adventures
This company is run by two rockin’ moms that get it. After their daughters blew through dress after dress, they came up with the concept for “dress-up made for everyday play.”
Their dresses are soft and comfortable making them perfect for kids with sensitive skin. All of the dresses made by Little Adventures are clothing quality, meaning that the hems are closed, the fabric is durable and the stitching is strong. They are machine washable and made to last through many princess adventures.
They even have adult costumes that are appropriate! Have you ever tried to dress up with your kids and the costumes at the store look like they were made for pin ups? Well, these are dresses you can feel good in chasing your little around the parks.
2. Presley Couture
These dresses are designed more like actual princess dresses rather than costumes. At first look, you would think they were expensive designer dresses, but they are super affordable with their average prices point at $15.
The Girl Mouse polka dot dress is just too cute. Pair it with some of their custom mouse ears and they are ready to hit the parks. There are even matching dresses for their American Girl doll.
3. Only Little Once
This vintage inspired clothing line for girls will make you wish you were young again. In fact, the designer’s mission is for us adults to remember how quickly this magical age will go by and to embrace and enjoy it while we can.
This is a high-quality line of clothing designed for comfort. Only Little Once only uses the softest brushed stretch cotton and each dress is lined with a high thread count cotton slip.
4. Placard Originals
This shop may not have as many options but that is because they are mostly hand made by a mama who puts loads of detail and craftmanship into her work. Her dresses are designed for everyday cosplay. They feature a shirred back for an adjustable fit and soft light fabrics to keep your princess cute and cool at the same time.

5. Mom Approved Costumes
This website has a huge variety of princess costumes for kids, accessories and doll dresses. There is a machine-washable dress for every prince and princess you can imagine. Boys aren’t excluded with their own selection of costumes and capes.
Mom Approved Costumes has a page dedicated to preparing for a trip to Disney where you can find a travel agent, get ideas on their Pinterest boards or join their trip planning group on Facebook.
6. Lover Dovers Clothing
This Etsy shop is a passion project for this mother of three. Her retro-inspired dresses are worthy of a storybook. They are designed with an elastic back and a waist tie so that they fit perfectly and grow with the child.
She also has a line of princess summer dresses with materials to keep your little one cool in the hot Florida sun. All of her designs are machine washable. Can I get an Amen!
The most amazing thing she makes is women’s costume aprons! GENIUS! I couldn’t squeeze my post-baby body into an adult princess dress, but I would happily prance around the parks in an apron. You don’t have to worry about sizing as much with one waist tie. The Fairy Godmother Cape and apron are the perfect accompaniment for your little Cinderella.
7. Pixie Kix
Don’t forget the shoes! Every princess needs a pair of designer shoes. Pixie Kix will make you a custom pair of shoes for your trip! This mom was disappointed at the lack of cute and comfy shoe choices to go with her daughter’s princess dress on their trip to Disney. Since she was a certified pedorthist with over 12 years of shoe alteration experience, she got to working at filling that void.
Not only will your little girl feel like royalty in these dresses, but you are helping to support another mom. And that’s basically our duty as women. So go hold each other up and get shopping!
I hope you found this list of the best princess costumes for girls helpful. If you know of any great companies that I missed, please let me know in the comments!
