The Best Place to Eat in Kuching
This was the best place we ate in Kuching and it kept us returning. I also loved the ambiance of sitting outside in the courtyard. Their menu that blends so many international flavors was just amazing. My favorite was the mushroom risotto paired with a Bintang, of course.
This quirky little place had so much character. It looks small from the outside but seems to have never ending rooms within. The lights are dim and objects hang from the ceiling. It almost felt like you were poking around someone’s attic, but in a good way. At night, you can enjoy live music with a cocktail.
3. The Nobleman
This old school English bar is located in the heart of Kuching. Serving a wide variety, ranging from the finest scotch to the freshest beer and to top that, they have an incredible selection of freshly prepared hand-stretched pizzas and amazing bar bites. Sit in the alleyway under string lights and leafy palms.
We loved our unique experience here. You write your order on a piece of paper and hit a buzzer on your table when you are ready for someone to pick it up. Food comes out as it is ready. It is very inexpensive and the portions are small so we were able to try many dishes. This is a great option if you are looking for vegetarian or vegan food.
Immerse yourself in Sarawak’s indigenous culture by dining at Lepau, a restaurant that celebrates traditional Iban cuisine. The menu features dishes like ayam pansuh, manok pansoh, and other unique flavors that reflect the region’s heritage.
Set on the picturesque Sarawak River, James Brooke Bistro & Café offers a delightful combination of river views and delectable food. Try the Sarawak laksa, a local specialty, while enjoying the river breeze.
7. Southside Cafe Bistro

It was established in 2022 by a team of local and British partners, who wanted to bring a western feel and menu to the city’s famous golden triangle. The restaurant offers a wide variety of food, including pizzas, burgers, pasta, and salads. They also have a full bar, serving beer, wine, and cocktails.
The owner of this restaurant studied in the UK. After getting lost in Newcastle, he stumbled across a pub. This visit inspired him to open a restaurant featuring European dishes, especially from France, Spain and Itally. Coincidentally, the name Perdu means “lost.” They are known for having the best cocktails in Kuching.
