The Nugget couch might be the best purchase I have ever made for my kids. We have been stuck at home so much these days and the kids are fighting boredom and taking it out on the house. I needed something to focus that energy into while also giving them an opportunity for creative play.
Think of the Nugget as the fixings for the perfect fort, but when not in use, the foam pieces fit together to make a couch. So it’s like a toy that is always put away. Did your mom brain just explode?
I love that it has a duel purpose. When we have a movie night, they love to drag it into the living room for seating. Not a day goes by that my kids aren’t playing on the Nugget. It has been a pirate ship, a ninja warrior course or their safety in a game of floors lava. It has been a dance stage and castle. The configurations are as endless as their imaginations.
The Nugget is made up of four separate pieces of foam. There is a thick rectangle, which can fold in half. Then a second piece that it is similar but thinner. A handle in the middle makes it easy to carry. The last two pieces are identical triangular shapes.
A microsuede cover zips over each piece. The material is soft yet durable. There are 17 colors to choose from and they are always adding new ones to the collection. While each Nugget comes with a cover, they are also sold separately. That way you an easily replace your cover if you want to change the color or it just needs a refresh.
The ideas for Nugget configurations are pretty endless. We did an entire post where we listed every possible configuration we could think of. Click here to see all of our ideas and inspiration.
Cleaning The Nugget Couch
One of the first nights we had the Nugget, the kids were playing on it. My 4 year old daughter doesn’t yet know to run to the bathroom when she feels sick. Out of nowhere, she just threw up all over the floor and all over their shiny new Nugget. The boys were horrified. After tending to her and tucking her into bed, I began the process of cleaning the Nugget for the first time.
I dreaded it, because I figured it would be one of those things that is impossible to get back into the cover. I was so relieved to find that the zipper goes all the way around each side, so getting the foam in and out was a breeze. I just threw the covers in the wash, hung them to dry and by the next day it was like it never happened.
We are pretty minimalist when it comes to toys. I am of the philosophy that less is more and would choose experiences over objects. So for something to take up space in our house, it has to get a lot of use and bring a lot of joy. The Nugget does both. This is one of the only things we have that all three kids can really play with together.
The Nugget is taking the world by storm, so if you want one, be ready for a wait. I ordered ours in November and it arrived in March. They are currently on a 10-12 week back-order as they struggle to keep up with the demand. I promise you, The Nugget is worth the wait.
The cost of a Nugget is $229. Shipping is free. If you aren’t happy with it after 30 days, you can get a refund. But trust me, you will be happy!
