One of best ways to get into the Christmas spirit is to view festive night lights and nobody does it better than Tower Hill. This popular event is held from November 23 to December 30th and it sells out fast so grab your tickets early by clicking here.
Over the years, this event has grown in popularity and Tower Hill has done a great job of managing the crowds. You have to purchase tickets in advance and are given a time slot for entry. They have many people scanning tickets in so even if there is a line, it moves fast. We were also given a map with a recommended walking route.
If you have kids with you, grab a scavenger hunt at the welcome desk. It’s great fun and will help your child be more engaged with his or her surroundings. It was really cold the night we visited, so it was great to be able to pop into the indoor gardens to warm up. The kids loved watching the model train and making s’mores by the fireplace. There is a bar inside that sells s’more kits and hot cocoa as well as craft beer and wine for the adults 🙂
Everyone’s favorite part of the night was walking through the rainbow tunnel. The colors were so pretty!
We also loved walking through the firefly forest which led to the twig houses. There is something about the twig houses that bring the wild rumpus out in them and a game of hide and seek immediately ensues.
To end the night, we headed down to the story den in the library. The kids picked up wildlife track cards and we tried to identify which animal tracks we saw on our way down. When we reached the library, the kids got to color in pictures of the animals they identified.
The Farmer and the Fork Cafe is open during the event and the food is just amazing. It is a casual cafeteria style set up, but the food is locally-sourced and delish. I highly recommend a creative harvest salad bowl or warming up with some hot soup.
Be sure to add Tower Hill Botanic Garden’s Winter Reimagined Night Lights to your holiday traditions. It’s a great family friendly event that everyone will enjoy and it will have you singing Christmas carols in no time.
