While a casino resort might not be the first place that comes to mind for a trip with kids, MGM Springfield MA offers so much more than gambling. Between the hotel, dining, entertainment, and nearby attractions, it makes a great home base for exploring Springfield.
Why Stay at MGM Springfield MA
Fall is one of the best times to visit Western Massachusetts, and the drive alone is worth it for the foliage. When we arrived at MGM Springfield MA, parking was free and easy in a covered garage, which is always a win in New England.
One of the best features of MGM Springfield MA is that everything is connected indoors. Once you park, you can access the hotel, restaurants, and entertainment without worrying about the weather. It almost feels like a mini city under one roof.
The Hotel at MGM Springfield MA
The hotel was easily my favorite part of the MGM Springfield MA. From the moment you walk into the lobby, you feel like you’ve stepped into a grand library. Books line the walls from floor to ceiling, and a spiral staircase adds to the atmosphere.
The design continues throughout the property, creating a cozy and slightly whimsical feel. Our room had a classic, old-world style with high ceilings, vintage lighting, and rich green curtains. It honestly felt like we were staying in Hogwarts.
The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the room-darkening shades made it almost impossible to wake up early. I had one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had in years.
The bathroom was just as impressive, with a large glass shower, classic subway tile and a rain shower head that would have made Joanna Gaines jealous.
Spa and Amenities
After checking in, I treated myself to a massage at the spa, and it was exactly what I needed. The space is calm and relaxing, with dim lighting, soft music, and thoughtful touches like infused water and fresh fruit.
If you are looking to unwind, the spa at MGM Springfield MA is worth booking ahead of time.
Dining and Entertainment
For dinner, we headed to TAP Sports Bar, which ended up being one of the most fun parts of our stay. You can dine at a table or order food right from the bowling lanes. Each lane has a lounge area with couches, which makes it feel relaxed and comfortable.
The bowling was perfect for families, with bumpers available for kids. Even though there isn’t a formal kids menu, the food is approachable and kid friendly. The giant pretzel was a big hit.
Later that night, we went to the Regal Cinemas inside MGM Springfield MA. The theater was incredible, with reclining seats that fully lay flat. Being able to pick your seats ahead of time made the whole experience easy.
Things to Do Near MGM Springfield MA
One of the best parts of staying at MGM Springfield MA is its location. Springfield has plenty of family-friendly attractions to explore.
We visited the Springfield Museums, including the Dr. Seuss Museum and Sculpture Park, which were a highlight for kids. If your children love Dr. Seuss, you will notice his influence throughout the city. For example, his grandparents owned a bakery just across the street from the MGM, and you may even recognize the turrets of the castle that inspired scenes in his books.
We also spent time at Randall’s Farm, where we took a hayride and explored a corn maze, and enjoyed a meal at Red Rose Pizzeria, which is known for its authentic Italian food.
Family Friendly Features
MGM Springfield MA has several features that make it surprisingly great for families. The bowling alley, movie theater, and nearby attractions keep kids entertained, while the hotel itself feels comfortable and welcoming.
There is also a seasonal outdoor pool and hot tub, open from May through September. If you are visiting during warmer months, be sure to pack swimsuits because it is a great spot to relax.
Another bonus is that MGM Springfield MA is dog friendly. Some rooms even offer small fenced outdoor areas, which is a great option if you travel with pets.
Service and Overall Experience
The service at MGM Springfield MA really stood out. Every interaction we had was positive, and the staff consistently went out of their way to help with a smile.
It is clear that MGM Springfield MA has invested not only in the property itself, but also in creating a welcoming experience for guests.
