Kuala Lumpur is a major stop over for many Asian destinations. On this trip, I decided to work in an extra day to rest after a long flight and check out the colorful city locals refer to as KL. I wanted a central place to stay so that I could walk to the sights and feel safe, so I chose the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. Here is my review of this luxurious oasis.
One thing I want to note is that Kuala Lumpur city is about an hour drive from the airport. For transportation, they use an app called Grab which is similar to Uber. Download the app and set up your payment before arriving otherwise you might have trouble doing so. Grab is safe, easy and affordable to use.
I had flown from Boston to Dubai and then on to Kuala Lumpur for a total of 22 hours of travel. I. was. exhausted.
Since I arrived early in the morning, I was so worried I wouldn’t be able to check into a room until after noon. I needed a BED. When I checked into the hotel and the woman told me she would be happy to let me check in early, I nearly reached over the counter and smacked a wet kiss on her cheek.
Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur Review
This is the cheapest Mandarin Oriental in the world, although that does not mean it is lacking in style or sophistication. This five-star gem seamlessly combines contemporary luxury with the warmth of Malaysian hospitality.
Situated in the city’s prestigious Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) district, the hotel offers unparalleled access to iconic landmarks such as the Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC Park, and upscale shopping at Suria KLCC. Whether you’re a culture enthusiast or a shopping aficionado, the hotel’s proximity to key attractions makes it an ideal haven for explorers.
My stay at the Mandarin Oriental was nothing short of extraordinary. The hotel boasts a collection of elegantly appointed rooms and suites that redefine the concept of comfort. My room, with its panoramic views of the city skyline, was a sanctuary of tranquility, featuring tasteful contemporary décor, plush furnishings, and state-of-the-art amenities.
The attention to detail in the design, coupled with the seamless integration of technology, created an atmosphere of modern sophistication. I don’t know why but I am always so impressed with under bed lighting to find your way to the bathroom at night. It’s the little things.
In my over-tired state, I staggered down to the pool area to feel the sunshine I have been missing in New England. The pool area was my favorite part of the hotel. There were cozy daybeds beside an infinity-edge pool that overlooked the park. It was truly a green oasis in the midst of a concrete jungle. I had the kindest gentleman checking in on me to see if I needed a coffee top up, or two or three!
There was a state-of-the-art fitness center and tennis courts on the roof. Additionally, the hotel’s spa, with its holistic treatments, offered a rejuvenating escape from the urban hustle. I wish I could have enjoyed the spa, but time did not allow.
Little Explorer Club
Designed to spark the curiosity of their youngest guests, this exclusive club is a treasure trove of imaginative activities and tailored experiences.
At the heart of the Little Explorers Club is a team of dedicated and engaging staff who nurture the creativity and enthusiasm of children aged 4 to 12. From captivating storytelling sessions that transport little ones to far-off lands to hands-on arts and crafts that encourage self-expression, the club’s diverse array of activities fosters a sense of wonder and joy.
The Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur spoils guests with an array of culinary delights that cater to every palate. There are six restaurants to choose from and a cake shop for dessert.
The true hallmark of the Mandarin Oriental is its exceptional service. The staff’s unwavering commitment to guest satisfaction was evident from the moment I stepped into the hotel. From the warm welcome at the reception to the personalized attention from the concierge, every interaction exuded genuine hospitality.
The staff’s dedication to making my stay memorable was truly commendable. On my last morning, I wanted to sit by the pool area one last time but I was too early to order coffee. The man who had been helping me the day before ran off an procured me a cup of coffee so that I could enjoy those last moments.
In conclusion, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur stands as a testament to refined luxury and impeccable service. Whether you’re a discerning traveler seeking a lavish retreat or a business professional looking for a sophisticated base, this hotel effortlessly caters to diverse needs. My experience was nothing short of magical, leaving me with cherished memories and a desire to return to this urban oasis in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
I hope you enjoyed this review of the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. I would love to hear about your experience if you have stayed here!
