Distance learning has us turning our homes in classrooms. One of the best things you can do for your kids is create a cozy little nook where they can cuddle up and read or draw. It is a great way to let kids have their own space to be independent, even if it is in the middle of the living room. Here is some inspiration on how to create an easy kids reading nook.
1. IKEA Stuva
This IKEA stuva bench fit into my space like a built in. The drawer beneath gives the added bonus of storage. My kids keep all their costumes inside. IKEA makes a cushion to fit the bench. Just add some throw pillows and you have a window seat/ reading nook. What I love about the storage bench is that it turns into a desk! Just remove the drawer and cushion and put a chair there. I love furniture that grows with their needs.
Bench pad $14.99
Mummut chair $14.99
Floor Cushion $69
3. Princess Hideaway Playhouse from Henry Bear’s Park
This is a really inexpensive and easy way to set up a kids reading nook that seconds as a play space. It just pops up and can fold away for easy storage. To make it a little more magical, we put tiny string lights around the top.
Princess Playhouse $29.99
String lights $9.99
4. Hanging Canopy
I love this dreamy canopy that comes with a dangling flower garland. It includes a padded floor mat for extra comfort. This one would require drilling a hole in the ceiling, so that is something to think about.
The great thing about a HugglePod is that you can use it inside or out. You can hang it from a sturdy tree branch or purchase one of their chair stands. While there are many colors to choose from, I just love the nature theme of the Woodland chair. There are even tiny LED lights in the leaves. Kids can have fun “getting mail” inside the front pocket.
I hope this helps inspire you to create a kids reading nook where they can let their imagination run wild. Now for a list of the best books your kids will love reading, click here. Let us know what your favorite is!
