Inn at Valley Farms Review: A Peaceful Farm Stay in Walpole, NH

Sometimes on our journeys, we come across places that are just plain special. Places that we just sink into seamlessly, like we have always lived there. Where everything is just… easy. The Inn at Valley Farms is a perfect example of that simplicity.

From the second we pulled up to the Sunnyside Farmhouse at the Inn at Valley Farms, I could feel myself take a deep exhale. The farmhouse overlooks rolling hills, with cows grazing peacefully against a backdrop of mountains. Adirondack chairs circle a stone firepit, inviting you to slow down and stay awhile.

A Warm Welcome at the Inn at Valley Farms

We were greeted by the soft meows of a small, fluffy cat on the front porch. I gave her a quick pat on the head before she headed off to the barn, where she took her job of mousing very seriously.

Inside, the welcome was just as thoughtful. A bundt cake and fresh loaf of bread sat on the counter, and the fridge was stocked with fresh squeezed orange juice, butter, and farm eggs. Locally roasted coffee was ready to go, making breakfast the next morning effortless. These small touches made our stay at the Inn at Valley Farms feel incredibly personal.

The kids love exploring a new place and were off in a frenzy to pick out their rooms. This three bedroom farmhouse at the Inn at Valley Farms comfortably sleeps up to eight guests, making it perfect for families.

The first floor includes a spacious bedroom with a king bed, a cozy living room with a television, a full bathroom and laundry room, and a fully stocked kitchen with everything you need to cook.

Upstairs, there are two additional bedrooms and another bathroom. Each room is spacious and beautifully decorated with classic quilts, giving the home a warm New England feel.

Farm Life at the Inn at Valley Farms

The Inn at Valley Farms is located on the same property as Walpole Valley Farms, a regenerative farm focused on sustainable, non-GMO agriculture.

While this is not a hands-on farm stay, you still get to experience farm life in a relaxed way. The kids loved watching tractors roll by and seeing animals throughout the property.

We walked down into the woods to see the piglets happily wallowing in the mud and rooting through the forest. Farms like this are next to impossible to find these days, as the factory farms come swooping in with their chemicals and poor animal welfare standards. They squash the small family farms who just can’t compete. Walpole Valley Farms is holding strong, doing things the right way.

Staying at the Inn at Valley Farms also gives families a chance to connect with where their food comes from and understand the importance of supporting local farms.

Dining at The Hungry Diner

Just down the road, you will find The Hungry Diner, the farm’s restaurant. It is both family friendly and dog friendly, which made it an easy choice for dinner.

On a beautiful evening, we grabbed a picnic table outside under the string lights to enjoy the live music. The setup is casual and perfect for families. You order at the window, grab a table number, and the food is brought out when it is ready.

There is a playground for kids and even a water station for dogs, which made it feel welcoming for everyone.

We ordered a flight of craft beers while the kids played UNO on the lawn. Every kids meal came with local soft serve ice cream, which was a huge hit.

Relaxing Evenings and Peaceful Mornings

After a full day, we slept incredibly well at the Inn at Valley Farms. The beds were comfortable with crisp linens and plenty of pillows. Despite being on a working farm, it was completely quiet.

In the evening, we made a fire and roasted marshmallows while barn swallows swooped overhead and cows moved through the meadow. It was one of those simple moments that ends up being the highlight of the trip.

In the morning, I sat in a rocking chair on the front porch, taking in the view and listening to a hermit thrush in the distance. It felt like time slowed down in the best possible way.
