Hyatt Centric Times Square Review: The Best Hotel for a Broadway Trip
If you are planning a trip to New York City for a show, this Hyatt Centric Times Square review will help you decide if this hotel is the right fit for your family. We chose this property for its unbeatable location in the theater district, and it truly made our Broadway trip seamless from start to finish.

Hyatt Centric Times Square Review
Location, Location, Location
The location is the standout feature in this Hyatt Centric Times Square review. We were visiting New York City to see a Broadway production, and the hotel was just a 3 minute walk to the theaters. It does not get easier than that, especially when traveling with kids.
We could look down and see the energy of Times Square right below us, yet once inside the hotel, it felt calm and removed from the chaos. If your main goal is to experience Broadway, you truly cannot beat this location.

Booking with Points and Room Upgrades
One of the highlights of this Hyatt Centric Times Square review is how easy it was to book using points. We redeemed 25,000 points per night, which felt like a great value for such a prime location.
Thanks to my Explorer Status, we received a complimentary upgrade. I then chose to upgrade further with cash to an oversized queen room because, when traveling as a family of five, space matters.
While the hotel allows five guests if three are children, there are a few things to keep in mind. No rollaway beds are allowed in queen rooms. Rollaway beds are available in king rooms for $50 per night.
We got creative and made a cozy setup using the ottoman and chair for our youngest, and he handled it like a champ.

Rooms and Views
We stayed on the 45th floor and our ears popped on the elevator ride up. At first, being that high felt a little strange, but we quickly got used to it.
The payoff was absolutely worth it. The views were incredible, and being so high above the street meant we heard almost no noise at all. I had packed a sound machine expecting Times Square to feel like the Las Vegas strip, but we never needed it.
The room itself was modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed, with a large bathroom featuring a soaking tub and rain shower, a smart lighting system with easy bedside controls, and plenty of space for our family, especially with the oversized queen layout.

Amenities and Hotel Perks
This Hyatt Centric Times Square review would not be complete without mentioning the amenities.
The lobby has a convenient market stocked with snacks and drinks, which is perfect when traveling with kids. Upstairs, the rooftop bar offers a beautiful outdoor terrace. We snuck up for a nightcap and took in the city lights, and it was one of those classic New York moments.

Parking Tips
Parking in New York City can be expensive, and the hotel offers valet parking for $90 per night.
Instead, we used the SpotHero app and found a garage right around the corner for about half the price. It was incredibly easy and saved us a significant amount of money.
Where to Eat Nearby
One of the perks of staying here is being surrounded by great food options. Some of our favorites included:
- Carnegie Diner – just two blocks away and a huge hit with my kids, especially the pancake lollipops
- Joe’s Pizza – perfect for a quick pre-show lunch with their famous giant slices
- Liberty Bagels Midtown – a must-stop on the way to the Empire State Building
- Bond 45 – a great Italian dinner spot right in Times Square, where we even sat in Anjelica Huston’s booth
- Yard House – a fun, casual option where we loved the nachos
Service and Family-Friendly Experience
The service really stood out during our stay. My Explorer Status gave us a late checkout, and the hotel stored our bags while we went to our show, which made the day stress free.
The staff was kind, helpful, and accommodating throughout our stay. One moment that really stuck with us was when we were checking out and spotted Daniel Radcliffe across the street. My kids took off running to meet Harry Potter, and the valet attendant kindly kept an eye on our car while we had our unexpected celebrity moment.
Final Thoughts on This Hyatt Centric Times Square Review
If you are visiting New York City for a Broadway show, this Hyatt Centric Times Square review makes one thing very clear: the location alone is worth it.
Between the easy walk to theaters, comfortable and modern rooms, incredible views, and thoughtful service, this hotel checked every box for our family. While we also love staying at the Thompson near Central Park, this is the better choice if your focus is Broadway and Times Square.
We would absolutely stay here again.
