Huttopia White Mountains: The Best Family Glamping in New Hampshire
Imagine a hidden valley in the White Mountains with safari-like tents and log cabins strategically placed along the lakefront and dappled through the woods. Watch a loon break through the stillness of the water from your seat on a canoe and fly off across the pines. You are engulfed by wilderness and in complete harmony with nature. This is what camping at Huttopia is like.
After searching for meaningful family travel experiences, we discovered Huttopia White Mountains, and it quickly became one of our favorite outdoor getaways.
Camping at Huttopia White Mountains
Huttopia White Mountains is a glamping resort located in Albany, New Hampshire. Huttopia combines the experience of camping with the comfort of a hotel stay.
Instead of pitching your own tent, everything is already set up for you. You will find real beds, a functional kitchen, and in some accommodations, even a private bathroom with hot water.
Huttopia originated in Europe and Canada and has brought its unique outdoor experience to the United States, including this beautiful White Mountains location.
Why Huttopia White Mountains is Perfect for Families
If you love the idea of camping but not the logistics, Huttopia White Mountains is the perfect solution for families.
There is no need to pack bulky gear, plan complicated meals, or worry about middle-of-the-night bathroom trips with kids. Everything is designed to make camping simple and enjoyable.
The property is also car-free in most areas, which makes it feel peaceful and safe for kids to ride bikes and explore.
Types of Accommodations at Huttopia White Mountains
There are several accommodation options at Huttopia White Mountains, making it easy to find the right fit for your family.
- Trappeur tents
These are the most comfortable option, with beds, a bathroom, and a small kitchen. - Canadienne tents
These offer a more traditional camping experience with nearby shared bathrooms. - Chalets
Perfect for larger families, these feel more like a rustic cabin stay.
If possible, book early. The lakefront and more secluded sites at Huttopia White Mountains fill up months in advance. I do think it is worth the price to upgrade to a waterfront if possible.

Activities at Huttopia White Mountains
One of the best parts of staying at Huttopia White Mountains is how much there is to do without ever leaving the property.
When you check in, take a peek at the activity board. There is everything from crafts to yoga on the beach.
There is a playground as well as a rec room that has games like ping pong and Foosball. I was so excited, because Foosball is the only sport I have ever been good at.
Our absolute favorite activity was renting a stand up paddle board (SUP) and heading to the beach. They can be rented hourly or for the day. There is a wharf to jump off and ducks that will eagerly greet you, hoping for handouts.
The lake is so serene, I loved just laying on a blanket with a book. One day we rented a canoe and paddled across the lake when a loon popped up right next to us.
This is the kind of place where kids can truly unplug and just be kids.

Food at Huttopia White Mountains
Huttopia White Mountains makes meals easy with an on-site food truck. An Airstream serves coffee, pastries, pizza, and snacks throughout the day.
My kids tried their first crepe there and were instantly hooked. In a nod to New England, they even drizzle them with maple syrup.
Conveniently located next to the pool, the food truck at Huttopia White Mountains quickly became one of our favorite spots. James and I would grab nachos and a beer while the kids splashed nearby.
You can also cook at your site, and s’mores kits are available for those classic camping nights around the fire.
The road is lined with blackberry bushes, and the kids absolutely loved going out to pick berries.

Dog-Friendly Glamping
If you are traveling with pets, Huttopia White Mountains is one of the most dog-friendly places you will find.
Dogs are welcome throughout the property (except the pool area) for a small nightly fee.
Location of Huttopia White Mountains
North Conway is just 15 minutes from Huttopia White Mountains and offers plenty of activities for families. You will find great shopping, restaurants, and popular attractions like Story Land theme park.
We made a hilarious attempt at driving up Mount Washington, which ended with mommy having a full blown panic attack and turning around before reaching the top.
We opted for outdoor hikes, which are plentiful in the White Mountains. Just drive down the Kancamagus Highway and there is a trailhead every couple of miles.
If you have older kids, Mt. Chocorua is a more challenging hike. I have done it a couple of times and it it will take an entire day (4 hours up, 3 hours down).
For a more kid-friendly hike, head to Sabbaday Falls. This is an easy hike with a big reward.
What to pack for Camping at Huttopia
Even though Huttopia White Mountains provides many essentials, there are a few items that will make your stay more comfortable.
We brought our bikes, and the kids loved having the freedom to ride around the property. Walkie talkies are also a fun addition for kids.
Towels are provided for showering, but you will want to bring your own beach towels. One thing we wished we had packed was a rope to create a clothesline. There is a small drying rack provided, but with five of us, it filled up quickly.
I also noticed one family had a pop-up tent set up over their picnic table, which was a great idea in case of rain. A plastic tablecloth for the wooden picnic table is something I wish we brought.
I always bring a collapsible wagon, which makes it much easier to transport gear from your site to the beach. Bug spray is a must. A dry bag is helpful for canoe rides, and a wet bag is perfect for packing up damp bathing suits at the end of the trip.
While Huttopia White Mountains provides a lantern, I recommend bringing a headlamp or small travel light. I love my Moji light and always find it useful.
They sell s’mores kits on site, but having your own marshmallow roasting sticks is helpful.
Firewood is available for purchase, and you should not bring wood from out of state due to regulations that help prevent the spread of invasive insects.
Finally, be sure to pack layers. Even if it is warm during the day, temperatures can drop quickly at night in the mountains. A small fan would also be helpful for circulating air on warmer days.
