Getaway Cabins Review
I have been intrigued by Getaway Cabins ever since I first heard of them. These modern tiny homes are designed to let people completely unplug and get away from it all. Here is how it works… there are outposts outside of major cities such as Boston, New York and DC. Once you book, the address is revealed to you. There is something really freeing about not having to research or plan an itinerary.
Two hour before you arrive, the name of your tiny house and key code will be texted to you. Since I was early for check in, I stopped in the nearby city of Concord to wander some shops along Main Street. To see the shops that I loved, click here. Concord is the capitol of New Hampshire and was only a 25 minute drive away from the cabins.
When I reached the address, there was great signage that led me down a long dirt road. There are other cabins dappled throughout the woods and I was relieved that it was a lot less murderey than I had pictured. I found my cabin, which was named Shelby and easily got into my room with the keypad.
I instantly fell in love with the cabin. I threw down my bag like I had lived there all my life and went to explore the nearby river with my dog. He was in complete heaven. The great thing about not planning is that we didn’t have anything we needed to do and it was glorious.
Each cabin has an outdoor fit pit, Adirondack chairs, a picnic table and fire wood for purchase. The staff gifted me a s’mores kit that did not go to waste. There is electricity, a sink and a bathroom with a full shower. Basic cooking and eating utensils are supplied as well as provisions you can buy. The kitchen has a two burner stove. There is also a landline to reach the field staff or to call 911 in the case of an emergency. If you can believe it, the cabins are even outfitted with central air.
The cell phone lock box and lack of WIFI really let you unplug. I brought only the necessities- my dog and a bottle of wine. I packed a salad for my dinner which kept nicely in the mini fridge. There was a torrential rain storm so I curled into bed and geeked out with my adult coloring book. The sounds of the forest and the rolling thunder were so soothing.
My husband and I are complete opposite personality wise. He is an extrovert and recharges by being around people and talking. I am a total introvert and have an inner need for quiet. I enjoy being alone and with three children who all need me all the time, it is utterly impossible. The Getaway Cabin allowed me to recharge and reconnect with nature. It is an introvert’s oasis!
I also have to add that Getaway Cabins customer service is amazing. I received texts and emails along the way to be sure all of my questions were answered. You can really feel when a company is passionate about what they do, because they exude such happiness and positivity. I can’t recommend them highly enough. In the future, I would like to bring my kids. They are really wanting to go camping and this is the next best thing… and so much easier!
