Historic Charm and Modern Comfort: Exploring the Eastern Slope Inn

The second that school bell rings signaling the start of summer, we hit the road for North Conway, NH. While we have always loved staying at the Red Jacket, the recent fire has shut them down.

We were on a search for a good hotel option in North Conway when people kept recommending The Eastern Slope Inn and Resort. After our experience, this hotel has moved quickly to the top of our list.

Eastern Slope Inn Review

The Eastern Slope Inn is a grand hotel on the Main Street of North Conway. With large white pillars and rocking chairs on the front porch, it has an elegant feel.

While it has a beautiful facade, it is far from stuffy. They welcomed our kids with open arms and had several family-friendly activities to make them feel at home.

Accommodations at the Eastern Slope Inn

The Eastern Slope Inn offers a variety of accommodations to suit different needs and preferences, from traditional hotel rooms to spacious suites and charming cottages.

We were in a townhouse in the main hotel, which was great because we were close to all of the amenities. Our room had a full kitchen stocked with all of the necessitates for cooking and serving a meal. It’s amazing how much money you can save just by bringing bagels and toast!

The kitchen had an open layout with the living room. A murphy bed folded out of the wall to add to the sleeping options. This was great for our oldest son who likes to stay up late watching television. Then in the morning, we would just fold it back up into the wall and have our space back.

The kids got such a kick out of the fact that there was an upstairs. There was a full bedroom upstairs with two queen-sized beds. Both floors had a full bathroom with soaking tub. For a large family, this was the perfect set up.

Once we were all settled in, the kids wanted to play in Jolie’s Arcade before dinner. The games take quarters so they had brought a bag of coins from home. There is also a change machine there.

We were so happy to learn that there was an American Flatbread Company right off of the lobby. Simply put, this is the best pizza you will ever have. They only use organic ingredients & free-range meats before baking in a wood-fired clay oven. I’m still dreaming of the Forager and the street corn pizzas we had.

After dinner, the kids threw on their suits and went to the “dive-in theater.” They chose Finding Nemo for the water theme and we got to watch the movie while swimming in the indoor pool. There were also two hot tubs for ages 14+.

There is a fitness center with state of the art equipment as well as peloton bikes and tennis courts.

And since my kids never seem to run out of energy, they wanted to make s’mores before bed. This is another great activity put on by Eastern Slope Inn. We were able to pick up free s’more kits at the front desk along with roasting sticks. We head to the fire pit out back and loaded up with more sugar before bed. Nothing marks the start of summer like roasting marshmallows.

Location of the Eastern Slope Inn

The location of the Eastern Slope Inn can not be beat. It is located at the end of Main Street, which is known for traffic. On previous trips, we have avoided downtown because we didn’t want to deal with trying to find a parking spot. Staying at Eastern Slope opened a whole new world for us. We could just walk to all of the shops and restaurants within a few minutes.

In the morning, we head to The Met for coffee and breakfast. Each evening, we walked to the park down the street to toss a football around and play on the playground. There is also a splash pad there to cool off on hot summer days.

North Conway and the surrounding area offers a plethora of activities year-round. In winter, the resort is conveniently located near several ski resorts, including Cranmore Mountain and Attitash. In the warmer months, you can enjoy hiking, biking, and sightseeing in the beautiful White Mountain National Forest. The Conway Scenic Railroad, just a short walk from the resort, provides a unique and scenic way to explore the region. We have a complete guide to the best things to do in North Conway.

I also have to mention the warm hospitality and attentive service. We were greeted each time we stepped into the lobby. Alice would offer us dining recommendations, lollipops for the kids and suggest a fun activity we might enjoy.
