Kennebunkport is such a charming little village. We first discovered it when we were looking for a weekend away as a couple before having kids. I was about five months pregnant at the time, so we were celebrating our baby-moon. We stumbled across a place called The Cottages at Cabot Cove and it was just what we were looking for.
We wanted something private, near the water and within walking distance to town. This place is just adorable and the lush gardens are exquisite. We had our own private cozy cottage on an enclave that circled the cove itself.
There is a dock in the middle with kayaks and row boats there for anyone to use. Each petite cottage is masterfully decorated in its own unique way so no two are the same. They each have a bed, a sitting area, bathroom and even a fully-equipped kitchen. When we woke up in the morning, a basket was hanging on our door with fresh baked goodies, butter and jam. We loved sitting on our patio overlooking the cove sipping a cup of coffee in the morning.
We used their retro bikes to check out George Bush’s Estate and go into town for ice cream cones. I loved coming back at night and walking down the meandering pathway that led to our cottage because it was so beautiful the way it was lit up.

I was so enamored with this place, that when we wanted to return to Kennebunkport a few years later, they were the first ones I called. I was so sad to hear that they do not allow children at their resort until she told us about their sister property down the street called The Lodge on the Cove. This is a very family friendly hotel with just the same amount of charm. We had an amazing time there with our family. Read my full review of The Lodge on the Cove here.
