Best Apps for Disney World: Plan Your Trip Like a Pro

Location: Orlando, Florida

Planning a trip to Disney World is exciting, but it can also feel completely overwhelming. Between park tickets, dining reservations, Lightning Lane passes, mobile ordering, wait times, and character meet-and-greets, there is a lot to keep track of before you even arrive.

The good news is that the right apps can make your trip so much easier. These are the best apps for Disney World to download before your vacation so you can feel more organized, save time, and enjoy the parks with less stress.

The Best Apps for Planning a Trip to Disney World

1. My Disney Experience

My Disney Experience is the official Walt Disney World app, and it is the most important app to download before your trip. You will use it for almost everything, including park maps, wait times, dining reservations, mobile food orders, hotel details, PhotoPass pictures, Lightning Lane passes, and more. Disney describes it as the official app for planning vacation details and accessing helpful features during your visit.

If you purchased Memory Maker, your photos will show up in the app throughout the day. You can also use the app to check attraction wait times, find bathrooms, look up showtimes, and see where characters are meeting.

You will be on this app constantly in the parks, so pack a portable power bank. Your phone battery will disappear faster than you think.

2. Disney Genie

Disney Genie is located inside the My Disney Experience app. It helps create personalized park recommendations based on your interests, including attractions, dining, and entertainment.

Disney has changed the old Genie+ system, so you will now see Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. Lightning Lane Multi Pass lets you choose up to three experiences and arrival windows in advance, while Lightning Lane Single Pass is used for select popular attractions.

This part of planning can feel confusing the first time you use it. I highly recommend watching a current YouTube tutorial before your trip so you understand how Lightning Lane passes work. Once you use it for a day, it starts to make more sense.

3. TouringPlans

TouringPlans is one of the best apps for Disney World if your goal is to save time and avoid long lines. Their Lines app includes wait times, crowd information, menus, prices, and customizable touring plans.

You can enter the rides and shows your family wants to do, and the app will help create a plan for your day. You can also refresh the plan as you go, which is helpful when wait times change or your kids suddenly decide they need a snack break.

There is a fee to use TouringPlans, but it can be worth it if you want extra help navigating the parks efficiently.

4. Mouse Dining

Mouse Dining is a great app for finding hard-to-get Disney dining reservations. You can set alerts for specific restaurants, dates, and times, and the app will notify you when something becomes available.

I could never have gotten some of the dining reservations I wanted without this app. The trick is to act fast. Sometimes I would get an alert, click right away, and the reservation would already be gone.

If you are hoping to book popular restaurants like Cinderella’s Royal Table, Chef Mickey’s, Topolino’s Terrace, or Story Book Dining, this is one of the best apps for Disney World dining alerts.

5. Disney Food Blog

Disney Food Blog is one of my favorite resources for planning meals and snacks. Food is such a big part of the Disney experience, and this app helps you research restaurants, menus, festival foods, snacks, and dining tips before your trip.

It is especially helpful if you are traveling with picky eaters or trying to decide which restaurants are worth booking in advance.

Final Thoughts on the Best Apps for Disney World

The best apps for Disney World can make a huge difference in how smoothly your trip goes. At the very least, download My Disney Experience before you leave home and spend some time getting comfortable with it.

Between My Disney Experience, Lightning Lane planning, TouringPlans, Mouse Dining, and Disney Food Blog, you will be much more prepared for your Disney vacation. A little planning ahead of time can help you spend less time stressing and more time enjoying the magic with your family.
