We just returned from a heavenly week at the Cape. We were in a traditional beach cottage that was just a short walk to the beach. What I couldn’t get over was how much STUFF we brought. We had to take two cars to fit it all.
I listed the necessities and weeded out what I wouldn’t bother bringing again. Here is my ultimate beach packing list. I will link to my favorite brands wherever possible.
What to pack for the Beach
Clothes:
2 Bathing suits (so one can be drying)
Swim cover-up
Wet bag– I LOVE this bag. It is big enough for my family of 5.
Change of clothes (I keep inside wet bag so we can switch at end of day)
Sweatshirt
Gear:
Umbrella/ Pop-up Shade
Wagon to haul stuff to and from beach- I like this one because it is collapsible and packs easily into car.
Beach towels– I love how big and soft these towels are!
Beach bag– I’m a huge fan of Scout and love their beachy patterns. I just used this bag for the first time and it was perfect! They have a smaller size as well.
Protective pouch for phone– this one is awesome! My phone works through the plastic!
Small wallet– I just put a bit of cash in this and leave the rest at home
Toiletries:
Clear toiletry bag– this bag is the perfect size and makes it easy to find what you need quickly and easily
Sunscreen (stick for face and spray for body)
Food:
Snacks/ drinks
Napkins/ plates/ cutlery
Plastic bag for trash
Toys/ Games:
Sand toys- Target has a great selection
Army guys– my boys spend hours making “bases” out of sand
Electronics:
Speaker/ charger
Walkie talkies/ Batteries
Covid-19 protection:
Masks for walking in public areas- my kids actually do better with a buff.
Pool noodle– the beach we visited used pool noodles to space people out. I also use the pool noodle under my daughter’s flat sheet to keep her from rolling out of bed at night.
